About Joshua

Joshua Koza is a high school Visual Art instructor and freelance illustrator/designer living in Iowa City, IA.

 

Joshua was born and raised in Iowa City, IA.  His passion for Art was apparent from an early age and has never left him.  In 1998, he earned a BFA in drawing, painting & printmaking from Iowa State University.  After spending several years in Washington state and Arizona as a Kindergarten teacher, Joshua earned his second degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2003 with an emphasis in traditional illustration.

 

After seven wonderful years in the Bay Area, Joshua returned to his native Iowa City to pursue a certification in Art Education from the University of Iowa.  In 2009, he was hired by the Solon Community School District  as the 9-12 Art instructor.

 

On July 17, 2010, Joshua married his lovely wife Sarah.  On March 8, 2014, Joshua and Sarah welcomed their daughter Abigail into the world, and on June 25, 2017, their son Jacob was born.  Together, they live in Iowa City with their dogs Copper and Arlo.

 

Joshua continues to produce private and commercial work in both traditional and digital media, striving to instill his own enthusiasm and appreciation for Art and Art-making in his students.
